Old Stables Cottage in Escomb Reviews

Great if you want a quiet break.

We absolutely loved our short stay at Old Stables Cottage. We had our senior dog with us and due to the heat while we were there it was too warm to go for walks with him so we spent most of our time at the cottage, which both our dog and us absolutely loved! We enjoyed it in the gorgeous hot tub, but most of our time was spent sitting outside taking in the beautiful view and listening to the birds singing. It was a perfect relaxing break. Just what we needed! The cottage had everything in you could need. The nearby pub (The Saxon Inn) did nice meals, and there are supermarkets/various shops about a 10 minute drive away. We can’t wait to stay again!

It is a lovely cottage with beautiful views. Great for walks and for those who like cycling (my father-in-law enjoyed it very much) The hot tub was a lovely luxury, and the owner, Steve, was very welcoming. There is a pub close by called The Saxon Inn, which is good for food and allows dogs, or if you don't mind driving, there is an excellent pub 10 minutes away called the Bishops Lodge.About 10 minutes away is Bishop Auckland Palace which is good for the ones who like history, it's a big place so allow yourself a few hours.I highly recommend this place and area, and I cannot wait to come back.
