The Miners Hall Retreat Reviews

What an amazing space, we were a group of 4 couples and there was something for everyone. The beds are very comfortable, the showers very powerful and the kitchen very well equipped. The living area has to be seen to be believed, very thoughtfully decorated and a variety of activities to keep everyone amused. The sauna and hot tub were very welcome after a day out exploring the area. The living area was very cold in a morning as no heating other than the multifuel.stove but once the fire was going, it took the chill off and we just put another layer on! The little fires in the bedroom kept the rooms very cosy. All in all, we had a wonderful week in this very special house.
Miners Hall is a tremendous place to stay either as a group of friends or a family. Wonderful bedrooms and a large entertainment space. We spent most evenings socialising in the vast lounge area. Would recommend
Claire
We absolutely loved our stay at the miners hall. Everything you can possibly need for a great stay is provided here. The living area is so spacious and full of activities that everyone can be doing something different but all be together. We loved the bar area with the dart board and pool table and the juke box on in the background. The kitchen was fantastic with absolutely everything you could possibly need and a gorgeous welcome pack to start your time off in style. The beds and bedding were very luxurious and the bathrooms brilliant The hot tub was a fabulous size and a perfect way to end our busy days. We loved the log fire and the size of the sofa meant we were all able to sit together to watch a film or two with a glass of fizz or two. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend the hall to family and friends and we are looking forward to booking again. This is an exceptional venue.

8 of us girls stayed for 4 nights. Absolutely beautiful place, bedrooms are magnificant. Hot tub and sauna were a great highlight for us to chill in. Seating space was perfect for us all to chat facing each other. Huge television upstairs too with a lovely log fire. Bar, pool table and arcade games were great. All round great place.
This was our second year at the Miners Hall. It was just as excellent as the first year! It's a stunning property and there's everything on tap you could wish for and more. An amazing place that has given us lots of happy memories. Hopefully, we'll be back again one day
Maureen
Absolutely Fantastic. This was our second visit 6 adults and one 12 year old and we just love it. Loads to do to keep you entertained, Pull your own pint at the bar, pool, darts, hot tub, sauna, pac man, juke box. and if you need to work off all that excess holiday eating there is a well equipped gym up on the balcony. We love the fact that no matter what you're doing you are all together in the huge living space. But if you do want a bit quiet time there is another cosy sitting room looking over the garden, ideal if you want to keep an eye on the children playing. Overall winner with our whole party.
As a family we have been to plenty of up market staycations, and this one is the best have stayed, everything is huge and spacious, a small problem arose but was handled quickly and professionally. Highly highly Recommended.
Fabulous property. Great venue if celebrating a special occasion with family and friends. Didnt need to venture far as everything was at the property. Dependant on time of year maybe a few more fans are needed upstairs in the Hall as it could get very hot up there. Fabulous stay and lots of memories made.
An absolutely stunning property perfect for a weekend away with good friends. Amazing entertainment space. Bedrooms beautiful and spacious. Thank you
Absolutely fantastic place to stay, the hosts went above and beyond with all the little extras. Great fun for all the family.
Beautiful property, everything was perfect down to the tiniest detail. I will recommend this place to everyone I know! Thank you for such a lovely stay xxx
An excellent stay in a stunning property. One of those properties where you are happy to stay in any of the four lovely bedrooms. Everyone agreed that pictures and videos do not do it justice. It needs to be seen to be believed. The main living area is stunning with everything you need to make your stay extremely comfortable. Would be great if you had the option of paying for sky sports. Would highly recommend.
Louise
Fantastic property everything you need for a fab family break will definitely be back!
Elaine
What an amazing place for a family get away. There is everything you could possibly need for a special break. There is so much to do in the Miners Hall that you dont need to go out, the pool table, dart board, juke box and game console. Then outside the hot tub and sauna. Shops nearby to stock up and some excellent meals at the South Causey Arms and Blacksmiths Arms only a few minutes drive away. Thoroughly recommend!

Have a lovely stay and was clean and amazing property. Loved the wood burner, pool table and hot tub. Thank you. Only down point was not very room in the bedrooms and in main room. One bedroom was always hot, but rest were not even though we tried to turn radiator knobs. Would come again.
The hall was amazing, just wow. The rooms were huge. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub & games room. Had everything you needed a lovely welcome pack & good response from owner. Have booked again.
Extremely happy with our stay, wonderful property with excellent facilities. Really enjoyed all the entertainment available and rooms were large and beds very comfortable. Minor notes, no bedding supplied for sofa beds needs to be mentioned on website and lights above pool table and dart board would be much better as difficult to play when dark. Will definitely book again Thank you
Wonderful holiday home for a family of three generations and two dogs. Easy parking, great location and fantastic facilities. Hot tub and bar particularly appreciated. Hosts were great and we had a totally relaxing and enjoyable time.
Maureen
Just the most amazing property. The massive living area made it possible to be included no matter what you were doing, even when using the gym. The pool, darts, juke box and bar made it perfect for fun nights. Not forgetting the hot tub which was excellent, and a lovely garden. The four bedrooms were huge and so comfortable and everything was immaculately clean. We certainly will be returning.
We are a multi generational, blended family. I can honestly say, we all had the holiday of a lifetime! There was something for everyone we never had a dull moment. It is such an amazing property, everyone is catered for from the comfiest beds, sauna and hot tub to the quirky touches upstairs in the most enormous reception room we've ever encountered. We were provided with complimentary milk, wine and more a big thank you to our hosts. It is spotlessly clean and well maintained. A very small thing, but take beddingsleeping bags for the sofa beds if you're considering using them. We'll definitely be returning next year!
An unbelievable property. So much space and so well equipped. We went as two families, 4 adults, 2 young children and 1 dog. The children absolutely loved all the fun things for them the play with, the trampoline was a big win. The property is HUGE, and very comfortable. Only down side for us was that we booked the property believing it to be fully enclosed, an essential for us with young children and a dog and it was very much not enclosed. Full open drive out to main road and gaps in low fencing. If these were resolved it would be faultless, but currently it is not advertised adequately and it would not have been on our search list had it been accurately reflected. Saying that we had an amazing stay. The accommodation is in a great location for getting to all the attractions. The hot tub and sauna were wonderful additions.
The Miners Hall really has the Wow factor and the photos really dont do it justice. Its huge, and has everything you need, want & more. Everyone in our party was always busy doing something. We had pool & darts tournaments, played the pac man & space invaders on the games machine or were chilling in the hot tub. We loved having a murder mystery night round the grand dining table. When we werent busy playing games we were chilling in the hot tub best Ive been in or at the bar. The bedrooms are all huge & had plenty of storage. The laundry room was a huge bonus & allowed us to dry our swim wear & towels. Cooking was never & issue as there was loads of cooking facilities, machines & utensils. We ate out at the Shepherd & Shepherdess pub which was great value for money & tasty home cooked food. The homemade chips were lovely. Beamish is a short drive away and was by far the best museum I have ever been to or taken my kids too, so brilliant we went twice. We found everyone we met in the area friendly & accommodating & would love to return one day. The only things that could make it better are an enclosed driveway for the dogs, and a light above the darts board, but thats just being picky really.
William
Even better than the photos! Huge upstairs space full of practical furnishings and games with spacious comfy bedrooms downstairs. Sauna and hot tub outside. We had a great time & would highly recommend!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the miners retreat and would love to come back. We have stayed in a lot of properties over the years and this one is definitely one of the best. There is lots to do at the property and it looks great, we could have done with more hours in the day to enjoy everything. I've never stayed in a property that had literally thought of everything you might want during your stay. We particularly loved the juke box with the bar and the pool table especially while watching the Euros. Heather our host was great. We had some small issues with the heating and the lights but these were both dealt with very promptly. There isn't a barbecue at the property so we asked if it was ok to use a disposal one and she was more than happy to allow that. I only have one really small niggle about the TVs. We don't go on holiday to watch telly but we did discover that all of the downstairs TVs in the bedrooms are streaming only. As part of the older generation, I would have preferred access to terrestrial telly and also we don't have Netflix ourselves and we discovered that only two people could use the hosts Netflix account at the same time and we were using 3 of the downstairs bedrooms. My only suggestion would be some instructions in the welcome folder for some of the items around the property. For example when we arrived we didn't know how to use the jukebox, after some random button pressing, we found some instructions on the machine itself, also we didn't know how to use the remote with it, again we worked out a couple of things, but more instructions would have been useful. The photos for the property are mostly accurate however on the site we used, it did show a lot pf bottles and things behind the bar, this has now be changed and so the photos could do with updating. The weather was quite cold when we stayed there and the only heating upstairs in the large room is a log burner, this did work pretty well if you sit by the sofas but isn't enough to warm the huge room, however rugs are also provided and were greatly appreciated. Regarding the cleanliness, it is a very large property and I understand it might be difficult to thoroughly clean during the turnaround, but I went into the large room the first night in bare feet and after just a few hours my feet were black, I made sure after that to always wear something on my feet. Also the bedroom that I stayed in had dust on the base of the bedside light which looked like it had been there a while and also quite a bit of dust around the edge of the window in the bathroom, having said that, none of these small issues would stop me from coming back to the property as it was amazing.
Lesley
Amazing space, our whole party loved it. Wonderful place for a get together, would certainly book again.
Had an amazing 4 days at the miners hall. When we first walked in we were so impressed and that continued walking through the whole house. The outside area with the hot tub and sauna was everything we'd hoped for a nice relaxing stay. We already plan on coming back soon
Nichola
