Horsley Cottage Reviews

This is the second time we have been to the cottage. It is a 5 star accommodation. Everything is just perfect from the large size of the cottage, the decor, facilities and of course the hot tub. It is so cosy and the views are spectacular. Ruth the owner is a lovely lady and so helpful. The cottage is near to all places to visit. We will be back.
Horsley Cottage is superb! Everything about this cottage was fantastic it was immaculate, all the beds and furniture were extremely comfortable, the showers were hot and powerful, the heating was very responsive and cosy, the kitchen was really wellequipped, the views were breathtaking. We could go on! We think the photos don't do it justice and the attention to detail is exquisite. Our only regret was we didn't get the opportunity to thank the owners in person.
I can't fault the property at all. It was clean, warm, comfortable and well equipped with good quality appliances. No skimping anywhere. Usually there is some little niggle such as a light bulb out but this was spot on. The views from the cottage were good. High up and surrounded by moorland. You have the feeling of remoteness but are still only a few miles from Consett with all the usual facilities of a town. There are lots of places to visit in the area and driving around the quiet roads is an actual pleasure. 100 recommended and if visiting the area again I'd definitely stay again.
Christopher
Beautiful spacious cottage , with hot tub and nice sized garden. Cottage had a large lounge and kitchen, with table and 4 chairs. Overall couldn't fault. The cottage is quite isolated, but Consett is 3 miles away and restaurants are found in nearby villages. We would recommend the Italian restaurant in Wolsingham, Buon Appetito. The unrestricted views are superb.
This accommodation is perfect in every way, so relaxing to there and use the hot tub
Richard
This was a modern, well appointed and clean cottage, easy to find and well situated for different holiday expectations. Even in JuneJuly it was chillier than we expected as the location is at 300 metres on the edge of bleak open moorland but a beautiful location and we found no shortage of things to do. Lots of wildlife, numerous sheep of course and even more numerous rabbits! The owners were easy to contact and helpful and wed go back again but it is a long drive north for us.
Philip
Very nice cottage and location, Could do with better outside furniture and cushions to really appreciate the veiws & stay in comfort, A few minor privacy issues with the property otherwise we had a great time at the cottage.
Horsley Cottage is our favourite holiday destination. Its a beautiful cottage which is furnished and equipped to a high standard, its comfortable, peaceful and has lovely views across the valley. Weve stayed there twice, and have already booked our third visit. Were looking forward to returning to sit in the hot tub under the stars listening to the birdsong
Very comfortable cottage with great views and Hot tub! Loads to explore around and about, including woodland, moorland and pretty villages and churches on the Pilgrimage route The way of light. Good places to eat and fab farm shop with cafe at Knitsley Farm shop!

The most beautiful cottage we have ever stayed in. The decor is beautiful and immaculately clean, so tasteful. The hot tub was such a bonus and the views spectacular. The beds are so comfortable, as are the sofas. The cottage is so spacious and the attention to detail is second to none. Thank you so much for a wonderful week, we would love to return again in the future.
Beautiful, cosy, spotless, spacious cottage situated on a quiet country lane. Ample off road parking. 10 minutes away from Consett with all its large supermarkets and eateries. The hot tub was perfectly placed not overlooked and taking in the rolling hills beyond. We loved our stay here and will be sure to return in the future. The owners were very friendly and chatty. Thank you for a lovely break. We will be back!
Amanda

Lovely, immaculate and clean cottage in a superb rural location. We had everything we needed and the hosts were eager to provide anything we were missing. Would love to return one day!
Absolutely brilliant stay, thank you so much! The views all around the cottage were stunning and it had absolutely everything we needed every time we wondered is there you could find it! So well equipped which made things really easy. The hot tub is lovely and just the right temperature. Lots to do in the local area including Derwent Reservoir and a couple of kids play places in Consett Jumbo Jungle and Believe and Be as well as an old railway perfect for cycling and the local viaduct. Would highly recommend staying at Horsley Cottage, the Christmas tree and decorations were lovely as well.
Debbie
This cottage is more than we could have ever asked for. We were travelling as 2 couples with our two little daughters. Both bedrooms had enough room for a travel cot and being all in one level meant they could toddle around safely and play together. The enclosed outside area meant we were able to have some time to explore. There is a lot to do for children in the area, all close enough to be able to get there and back before naps. The setting of the area was stunningly beautiful and watching the sun rise and set was a personal highlight. The cottage itself is renovated to such a high standard. The doors and walls are all very soundproof so we werent disturbing each other whilst up in the night with the little ones. It was truly a home away from home. Extremely well appointed and had everything we could need or want. There were some wonderful little touches that just made the week so special. Ruth, who owns the property, was extremely helpful and accommodating, even helping us with recommendations for local events. If you are considering booking this cottage, do it now, its a hidden gem.
Could no fault are staying at horsly cottage nice and warm very good heating ... Could no fault are staying at horsly cottage nice and warm very good heating good wifi, very clean, and wellmaintained would highly recommend staying here
This cottage is one of the best I have stayed in. The decoration of the cottage is very high quality and absolutely gorgeous. The kitchen has everything you need and more. Again beautifully designed. Great ensuite and main bathroom. Lovely showers and having two is a great bonus for 3 adults. The views from the living room is stunning over the countryside with the bonus of sheep, pheasants and rabbits. The bedrooms are a good size. There is also a laundry room which has very good white goods. A bonus. The hot tub is fantastic. Just the right temperature and again stunning views. The gardens around the property are great too. Perfect.
Another great holiday at Horsley Cottage, lovely clean comfortable cottage. Area around is beautiful and very peaceful. Great hot tub very relaxing, friendly owners
Robert
Too quiet, too comfy, too scenic too bad we had to leave! ! What a delightful cottage set in beautiful open scenery. Comfortable, well appointed furnishings and everything you need in the kitchen. Hot, yes very, water on tap sorry!. Lovely owners on site who are extremely helpful. Even the driveway chippings are quiet and the sheep and cows in the nearby fields don't make a noise!!! Cannot rate this property high enough, we had a lovely, quiet and relaxing stay, thank you Peter & Ruth, excellent
Great location and fabulous accommodation. We will be returning very soon. Great hot tub which was used almost daily. Very clean property, very well kept and a short drive to the amenities of Consett. One very minor negative was the mattress in the master bedroom which in our opinion needs an upgrade. All in all though a wonderful stay and would recommend. Thank you Peter and Ruth.
Simon Paul
Beautifully modernised. Lovely area to be so peaceful and private. The holiday home had all the home comforts that was required and the hot tub was a super bonus. We really would have benefitted from staying another week as it was so relaxing. To open the bedroom curtains every morning and look over miles upon miles of the Pennines was stunning.
Beautiful cottage the owners have put an enormous amount of effort into making this beautiful cottage just perfect and it shows in all the thought and detail. I would love to go back it was an absolute joy to be there , away from all the hustle and bustle it invites you to just relax and chill .
Absolutely lovely home, hot tub is ace. I would highly recommend this home.
We had such an amazing stay at Horsley Cottage. Beautiful location, peaceful, relaxing. Property was super clean and comfortable. Kitchen was very well equipped and what a lovely touch with a welcome pack of essentials. Just what we needed after a long drive. Hot tub was lovely to chill out in, after a long day, drinking in the views. I will definitely be returning.
Caroline
This is such a lovely cottage. Very clean and comfortable. The views are brilliant across the valley. Such a great place to explore the surrounding area and a relaxing evening in the hot tub.
George
Lovely comfortable cottage set in quiet and peaceful countryside, well equipped with everything that was needed. Hot tub was a plus. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic cottage, impeccably clean. It had everything you could need. Would highly recommend.
Having used Hoseasons for many years I had become disillusioned with the rising costs and falling standards. This was the first time we used Sykes and have been absolutely blown away with the standards, the quality, attention to detail and the lovely little touches that meant this was by far and away the best accommodation we have ever stayed in. Excellent value for money, a beautiful cottage in lovely and peaceful area. Literally perfect. I cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you.
Gordon
Absolutely superb could not fault it in any way it's a 10 from us
Rebecca
My friends and I stayed as a celebration of our 40th birthdays and all so impressed with this fabulous cottage. With everything we needed there we particularly loved the interior, the fire and the hot tub. The view so nice watching the sun rise and so peaceful. Delightful location with great views, close to footpaths for those who enjoy walking, and very cosy for our winter stay with a roaring woodburning fire. Local shopping was five minutes or so away. Excellent all round! Thank you!!
We had a lovely return visit to Horsley Cottage. We love the isolation. Cottage so comfortable & warm. Any issues owners always sort out and theyre never intrusive. They Sent a lovely text after we left.
Had a wonderful time in this beautiful cottage with hot tub. It was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and had everything we could have needed. The fresh milk in the fridge and welcome pack was much appreciated, as was the complimentary basket of firewood for the log burner. The views from the cottage and hot tub are fabulous! This is a perfect peaceful place to get away from it all can't recommend it enough!
Vivienne
