Stables Cottage Reviews

Eleanor
We loved here. Its a beautiful place and only 10 mins drive to Barnard castle which has some lovely shops. The gentlemen who looks after the place was really friendly and was even there to help on New Years Day when I set the fire alarm off. We will defo be returning.
Jonathan
Excellent cottage with beautiful surroundings. We had a great week and the host was kind and helpful.
Wonderful stay, lovely cottage, superb location with things to do nearby. Would highly recommend.
What a lovely cottage, in a lovely setting, run by lovely people. Being dog friendly was one of the main reasons we chose this cottage and it didn't disappoint. The whole family loved it. The village down the road and the walk along The WeirBarnard Castle is lovely too. We can't wait to go back. The cottage had everything you could need and more, so well equipped and the hot tub was lovely. Would definitely recommend
Firstly i like to say how lovely the people are who own this property. Had a 2 tiny hiccups during our stay and they were with you to fix them straight away with a smile on there faces. The stables is furnished to a really high standard and caters for all your needs whilst away. Beds were comfy. I cant really say more it was just a great week. Others have stated about the smell outside from the farm nearby. Yes there was a smell but didnt bother us and was not there all the time so please don't let this put you off. End of the day your in the countryside. Overall a five star stay and would definitely recommend.
Hayley
Lovely house, very clean and comfortable. Owner very helpful if anything is needed. Well equipped kitchen we cooked every night and had everything we needed. Hot tub a nice extra.
Graeme
We had a lovely relaxing week at The Barn. Inside was clean with a bright decor and under floor heating The Barn is well equipped for your stay the owners had left a nice welcome pack and fresh eggs from the chickens they are on hand if you need them but not intrusive. The Hot tub was also a nice touch especially after a long day out I would highly recommend The Barn
There was plenty of room. The smell outside was overpowering at times. We would not return due to that. Just a simple broom would be useful in the unit so we can keep the floor tidy. Upon arriving there was but a tiny bit of toilet paper. It wouldnt hurt to have one full roll, particularly when shops are some distance. Underfloor heating is good but takes too long to heat. Hopeless when a cold snap hits, as no other quicker heating methods. The dishwasher top draw runner was broken and difficult to use. It needs fixing but obviously been like that for a while. The location was quiet and the spa pool a welcome addition.
This is a beautiful property in a great location for visiting local towns. It is extremely well equipped and has a brilliant play area for kids. The owner Julia, is lovely and extremely helpful. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this property and we will be returning in the future for definite. Our family had a great break. Mark Moore.
The house was warm and welcoming with everything available that we could need. The hot tub was a ideal addition to our very relaxed holiday. The accommodation was situated ideally for getting around the local area. We would definitely consider booking a second time if we find ourselves holidaying in this area again.

We had a wonderful holiday. The cottage was a home away from home & the owners were so helpful. The trampoline & hot tub were the highlights for our daughter & the bunk room was really well designed for children. In a great location for nearby attractions & we enjoyed days out to Raby Castle, The Bowes Museum & Low Force Waterfall among others. Would definitely recommend.
Stephen
Lovely holiday cottage. The owners couldnt do enough to make your stay welcome and enjoyable. Great hot tub, nice and warm and clean. Beautiful views. Would definitely stay there again. It was really lovely.
Colette
The cottage was beautiful, very comfortable, lots of lovely features. Fantastic views and sunsets. Peaceful and quiet. If you have kids, theres lots for them to do on site. Julia had left us some of their own fresh eggs and other goodies. Which were very much appreciated. Thank you. Me and my sister had a lovely relaxing, peaceful break. I would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage at all.
We stayed at the Stables cottage in June and had a lovely week, the cottage was very clean with excellent facilities, it was lovely to relax in the hot tub which we used most evenings after a busy day visiting the area it was kept clean and heated everyday. there is plenty to do in the area, we especially enjoyed Raby Castle and the Bowes museum, both are worth a visit. We would definitely stay at the Stables again if we are in the area.
My family and I stayed here for a week in May. It was fantastic I loved the fact it was all on the ground floor, I would really recommend this stay for anyone with small children as it made life so much easier for us, not having to worry about stairs. The park area outside was excellent the children loved it especially the trampoline. The accommodation upon arrival was extremely clean and the kitchen was superb well equipped had everything you needed and the oven was of a high standard and cooked food really quickly. The hot tub was available for us to use throughout our stay this was a great facility and we used it everyday. If you are thinking of booking here, just book it you wont regret it!

Beautiful cottage, friendly and helpful owner. Great location. Maybe addition of robes for the hot tub? Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Stables Cottage was lovely and clean, comfortable, cosy and warm. In a good quiet location ,ideally situated for walking routes and nearby Barnard Castle. The hot tub is an added bonus and the owners couldn't be more helpful and accommodating.
Property was lovely and clean with everything you need. Super friendly welcome from the owners and only a quick drive into town. Really cant ask for anything more!
What a wonderful place to spend Christmas! Arrived on 23rd to a warm welcome from Nigel. Cottage is spotlessly clean, with everything you need. We spent Christmas day chilling in the hot tub. Our daughter and son in law joined us on the 27th and we cooked a Christmas dinner. The area is beautiful, with Barnard Castle on the doorstep. We used the hot tub again on a clear evening and the stargazing was incredible. Cannot recommend highly enough. Will definitely be back. Thanks Julia and Nigel.
Lovely stay in a great location to explore County Durham and the Yorkshire Dales. The cottage is ideal for little children with it been all on one floor. Owner very friendly. We had a comfortable stay and the underfloor heating was very nice. Thank you!
The cottage has absolutely every comfort you need and more in a stunning part of the world. Owners are lovely too, would definitely come again!

Stables Cottage is one of the most relaxing cottage holidays we have stayed in. the cottage has a lovely relaxing feel, the hot tub helps. Stables is kept very clean and very well kept. We have stayed here twice so far with many more to come. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage for a relaxing holiday.
Sharon
Lovely well equipped cottage and very friendly owners. We will definitely look to stay here again.
Olivia
Owners of the property were so lovely and accomodating we couldn't have asked for more. The cottage was clean and warm, with fresh towels and bedding. The wifi was great because signal wasn't amazing for us there. Modern kitchen and bathroom facilities. We will definitely return in the future!
Three of us stayed in this lovely cottage for a walking holiday in the surrounding area. The cottage was well equipped and quiet. Initially we did have some problems with the BroadbandWiFi which really wasn't fit for purpose, however we were pleasantly surprised when the owner got a technical engineer in who resolved the problem. After this we had no further problems and can report that SmartTV, tablets and phones can all be used adequately including to make calls and video calls. The hot tub was also lovely and most welcome after a days walking. The owners could not have done more to help us and without hesitation we would recommend this cottage to others.
Had everything we wanted, and provided a quiet setting for a relaxing holiday
Our stay was very enjoyable, lovely location, peaceful on a working farm. The family were very helpful and friendly, we shared a play area, and my little grandson loved it. My elder Grandson loved the hot tub, and used it daily. The only negatives were the weather and the wifi, one of which our hosts couldnt do much about, and the wifi which they had done what they could, but the area just as a poor signal, we struggled with phone and gps, so thats just one of those things. If you are planning a holiday streaming films on your iPad this isnt the place for you, if you are planning a peaceful break in the country, and get out and about its a great location, and place to stay.
A lovely place to stay, the barn is spacious and comfortable. The children were happy to play everyday on the park area, and relax in the hot tub. The family who run barn are so friendly and helpful, and just next door if you need them.
